Many addiction treatment facilities strictly rely upon talk therapy alone to help individuals achieve sobriety. While that approach may help people get sober, it doesn’t always help them stay sober. Without the right treatment, individuals may not be prepared to cope with daily obstacles, which could lead them right back to using. Crest View Recovery Center believes that our reality based therapy model prepares our clients for sustainable, life-long sobriety. Learn more about reality therapy.

Why Some Inpatient Rehab Facilities Fail

Reality based Therapy model Teaches Basic Life SkillsSome medical experts believe that a lockdown residential treatment facility gives people the best chance at recovery. The problem with many of these programs is that individuals may struggle with a rigid structure. When a program feels too institutionalized, it can make people feel like they’re “forced” into recovery. This is where reality based therapy comes into play.

Although our rehab treatment program still has an inpatient feel, we believe in taking the opposite approach. While evidence-based individual and group therapies provide the foundation for sustainable recovery, our programs are successful because we put people in real-world situations.

After attending clinical treatment during the day and 12-step programs in the evening, clients retire to gender-specific housing facilities. That rehab treatment setting replicates a real-life living situation with roommates also struggling with addiction. While living in these spacious accommodations, our staff will be there to not only monitor progress but also to teach clients independent life and coping skills that they’ll retain post treatment.

Aspects of Reality Based Therapy Model

Maybe you don’t know how to cook, or you’ve never experienced fun in recovery. You’re not alone. People in early recovery often lack basic, everyday life skills. The goal of our supervised reality therapy program is to help you develop basic skills to help you effectively navigate life. Along with reality therapy, we also offer:

Along with basic life skills, our staff will also teach you how to enjoy your sobriety without resorting back to using. Some of our supervised evening or weekend activities include bowling, mini-golf, hiking, and movies.
